End of the year musings | Natural newborn and family shoots North East

As we head towards the end of the year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what's been a fantastic year restarting my business.

When I went live in April 2025, I honestly wasn't sure how it would go. It was four years since I had my last business, and I knew the social media landscape had completely changed. I knew I loved what I do - capturing real families, real moments, the ordinary magic of everyday life. But whether families out there would still want it, would trust me with their most precious moments? I wasn't certain.

The response has been beyond what I hoped for. I've just hit 40 family, newborn, and commercial shoots. My goal was 20. So that's a huge achievement!

What this year has taught me

Families who value authenticity over perfection have shown up. Parents who want photos that feel true to who they actually are, not who they think they should be. This year I've learned so much more about what actually matters to families, what makes a session feel easy rather than stressful, and the power of letting people be themselves in front of a camera. Working with people who've enjoyed the sessions because of this, has made this year so genuinely joyful.

The real moments

I've captured early feeds on new nursing chairs. The beautiful and tender moments of newborns and their older siblings. The lovely chaos of beach and park trips and families just doing their own thing in their homes.

These are the moments that matter. Not the perfect poses or the forced smiles, but the realness of how life actually looks when you're living it.

Thank you

So whether you booked a shoot, downloaded a brochure, replied to an email, or just hung around to see what I'm up to—thank you. You've been part of making this year what it is.

As we head into 2026, I'm excited about what's next, grateful for the families I've worked with, and genuinely looking forward to meeting more of you.

For now, I hope you have a restful, joyful Christmas and a brilliant start to the new year.

Enjoy the time with your people.

See you in 2026 ♥️
