One of the things I love about photographing newborns at home is that every shoot is completely different.


Not just because every family is different, but because every home has its own feel, its own light and its own little pockets of life.


This particular home was full of colour, personality and lovely little details. Every room offered something different — beautiful light, interesting colours or a little corner that caught my eye — so we made the most of all those different spaces as the shoot unfolded.


And that’s really what I love about a documentary-style newborn shoot. You don't have to know what to do. You don't need a perfectly tidy house, a house full of neutral colours or a plan for how the photographs are going to look.


We just use what’s already there. Nothing needs to be staged. Your home does a lot of the work for us.
